Make Them Your Own
Easy ways to customize art, photography, and type in Photoshop and Illustrator.
|
|
|
Adding your own custom flavors is an important process in design. Here are some simple techniques you can use to put personal touches on existing illustrations, imagery, and fonts—try these effects to make them your own.
1. In Illustrator
Starting from the
original image,
we selected the dress,
made a copy, and
brought it to the front.

|
Tip: If you’re dealing
with multiple shapes,
we suggest uniting
them in the Pathfinder
palette by holding
down Option and
clicking on the Unite/
Add to shape area
icon.
| |
|
2. Choose a pattern
that you want the
selected shape to be
filled with. We opted
to fill the woman’s
dress with the honeycomb
pattern.
| |
|
3. Drag your pattern
onto the selected
shape, and it automatically
fills the area.
| |
|
4. Finally, add some
finishing touches. In
the Transparency palette,
we lowered the
Opacity to 30 percent,
and set the Blending
Mode to Screen.
