Identity
One Business, One Plan: Promoting Your Wares
Now that Bead Girls Jewelry has an identity, it's time to spread the word.
February 2008
Throughout 2007, DG art director Sam Berkes generated a new identity, color palette, website, marketing materials and now giveaway items and a banner for trade shows for Bead Girls Jewelry.

Berkes sought items which are clearly feminine for the company’s promotional gifts. “We looked online at a number of companies who custom-print and custom-make promotional items. Almost anything you want—at varying price ranges—can be personalized with a company logo or tagline. I looked for items that were relatively low cost and would appeal to female jewelry buyers.”

T-shirts are inexpensive options that with some fun copy or unique logo placement can become popular pieces. They’re an easy way to get your company name and contact information out to a community.

The fingernail clippers and nail polish—as well as lotions, soaps and other feminine care products—suggest that Bead Girls Jewelry knows women interested in purchasing beautiful jewelry care about their appearance. The clippers are less of a throwaway item than the nail polish. When finished with lotions or polish, the bottle hits the trash. Clippers are more likely to be around for some time.

Berkes also mocked up a banner for Bead Girls Jewelry to use at trade shows. The banner is consistent with previous identity pieces and the website design. Berkes puts the logo foremost and keeps copy to a minimum. Banners using vinyl lettering can be reused and customized to promote new prices and specials, and if contact information changes, the banner can easily be updated.

Promos & giveaways
You can print your logo on anything these days. DG art director Sam Berkes located a number of online companies that will personalize items with your logo or tagline, and at reasonable prices. For Bead Girls Jewelry, Berkes researched products he felt jewelry buyers would also have interest in getting. Items such as polish and lotions, however, tend to find the trash once empty. But T-shirts and the clippers shown above have staying power and will continue to promote Bead Girls Jewelry.

Convention banners
Berkes designed a banner for Bead Girls Jewelry to use at trade shows. He suggests purchasing one with the background and logo, as well as one that incorporates vinyl lettering for customizing the company’s message at different events. Bead Girls Jewelry can then update the copy to reflect new pricing and specials, as well as updated contact information.
